Picnics are back!

With some COVID-19 restrictions being relaxed from the 2nd of May, why not plan a picturesque outdoor picnic? Dust off the picnic rug and get out into Brisbane’s beautiful national parks and gardens and celebrate being outside again. We’ve put together a list of the 5 top spots around Brisbane for picnics and, to save you time and hassle, Cuisine on Cue are offering a range of delicious picnic boxes that can be delivered to you!

1. Walkabout Creek, The Gap

Walkabout Creek, located at the edge of the D’Aguilar National Park in The Gap is just a 25 minute drive from the Brisbane CBD. With winding walking tracks surrounding the stunning Enoggera Reservoir, you can take a walk after a lunch and really take in the natural beauty. There’s also the Walkabout Creek Cafe serving up coffees for your caffeine fix. You can also collect your picnic box from the Cafe, easy!

2. Kangaroo Point Cliffs

Make the most of the sunshine while drinking in one of the best views in Brisbane. Whether you’re at the top or the bottom of the cliffs, you’ll find seats and tables ready to be set up for your picnic. Those of us who are more active can also enjoy the bike and walking paths along the river.

3. City Botanic Gardens

Situated between the river and the beautiful QUT Gardens Point Campus, the 45-acre City Botanic Gardens is a piece of paradise in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The Gardens feature a stunning variety of national and international flora and is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious picnic with loved ones.

4. Shorncliffe Pier

Enjoy a taste of the seaside and stroll along the Sandgate-Shorncliffe foreshore. Featuring the longest timber pier in the city, you can while away the hours with that coastal feeling. There are many spots along the foreshore featuring spectacular views where you can set up for the afternoon.

5. Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens

Close to the inner city suburb of Toowong, you’ll find the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens. Featuring Japanese gardens, bonsai house, herb garden and a nine-metre-high biosphere, you can easily spend a day here. You’re spoilt for choice with where to put down the picnic rug.

Make your picnic extra special with Cuisine on Cue’s range of Picnic Boxes. There is a variety of options serving both two and four. Our favourite is the Family Picnic Box featuring delicious char grilled lemon, thyme and garlic chicken, roast pumpkin, spinach and red onion salad and ham and cheese sandwiches for the kids!
