The Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony took place in the beautiful gardens of Newstead House, one of Brisbane’s oldest surviving residences. The couple were drawn to this location for its beauty and history. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a refreshing mocktail to sip on as they waited for the ceremony to begin.
The couple envisioned their wedding reception to feel like a ‘fancy’ dinner party with their closest friends and family. Cuisine on Cue’s team of expert caterers worked hard to bring this vision to life. Following the ceremony, the bride and groom greeted guests and took photos while a selection of seasonal canapes were served. The canapes included sticky beef check empanadas with chipotle mayonnaise, and pork belly with black pepper caramel, red radish and mint salad.
The MC announced it was time for dinner and the guests made their way to the Riverside deck of Newstead House overlooking the gardens. The dinner setting was simple, classic and elegant. One long table was set up and decorated with jars of fairy lights.
Once the guests were all seated the welcome toast was made as the sunset reflecting light river onto the Brisbane River. Following the toast, the party was served shared entrées including prosciutto wrapped chicken fillets served with French shallot salad with lemon thyme dressing. Guests also enjoyed plates of char grilled Moroccan prawns with couscous and pine nuts topped with harissa yoghurt.
Mains included crispy lamb daub with roasted honey sesame carrots, cress and jus. The second option was sliced cube roll with café de Paris butter and crisp kipfler potatoes.
Roasted root vegetables with balsamic roasted red onions and a three cheese farfalle pasta bake were served as sides.
For dessert, guests indulged in house made cupcakes accompanied by freshly brewed coffee and a selection of black and herbal teas. Following dessert, guests moved down to the courtyard for speeches, music, dancing and popcorn.
According to the bride Mandy, this relaxed banquette style dinner is what really impressed the guests who enjoyed having the option to choose what they ate. “Everything was delicious,” she said.
“All the staff were lovely and made an effort to ensure our guests had a good time and everything ran smoothly.” She added, “The general consensus was that the wedding was intimate, relaxed, and fun – just how we hoped it would turn out.”
